Principle Consultant

The Principal Consultant acts as a lead consultant during the delivery of specialist consultancy engagements and during the implementation of large programs, transformation projects, providing subject matter expertise within a specific domain or technology.
The Principal Consultant is required to deliver defined business outcomes and lead implementation teams in deploying the relevant technology in adherence to the agreed solution design or hummingbird service. The Principal Consultant may also provide advice on the proposed solution, with an objective of upselling Hummingbird’s services and solutions.
Principal Consultants also provide leadership, coaching and support to technical or project consultants, motivating them and inspiring them to perform at their best during their engagement on a program / delivery of work. The Principal Consultant provides the necessary advice to the engagement management or professional services director to ensure that custom elements of a solution can be built, are fully supported and that deliverables are clearly defined and agreed with the customer at the point of sale.
Business Services
- Where required, support the Professional Services Director in providing pioneering subject matter expertise to Pre-Sales and Sales. Work with the delivery and account teams to advise on the best possible solution, challenging current practice to drive innovation
- Proactively manages and leads the delivery of Customer-focused workshops, showing agility, flexibility and a capability to be creative in solutions, whilst aligning to the Hummingbird line of business products and services
- Act as the lead consultant and delivery subject matter expert in both a pre-sales context and on delivery engagements. Execute projects according to the agreed work plan under the direction of the delivery manager, and where necessary, direct delivery consultants in their delivery tasks and ensure quality outcomes for our customers as a result
- Provide project status information to the delivery managers or project managers, including risk identification, task delay and task completion estimates Validate with the project or delivery manager that the completion expectations have been met
- Proactively alert Project teams of potential problems based upon your strong working knowledge of software and hardware compatibility within the customer’s environment
- Responsible for creating comprehensive documentation around solution design and project delivery. Works closely with solution architects to fully understand the design and implementation to be delivered to the customer
- Informs the delivery manager when a customer requests an activity or deliverable that is beyond the scope of the Statement of Work
- Identify, analyze and manage technical risks within consultancy engagements, projects, assisting to make strategic decisions on what will be the most effective use of resources to drive increased profitability
- Participate in strategic project review sessions to share materials or lessons learned with the wider hummingbird team. The Principal consultant plays a critical role in the knowledge feedback loop within refining existing solutions and the creation of new service offerings
- Develop skills and work with the Professional Services Director to attend prescribed/requested training, demonstrating accountability for keeping own performance on track and a commitment to personal learning and development
- Provide guidance to client teams or third-party partners to collaborate and implement the technical solution, build mutual support and develop an understanding with colleagues across functions
- Provide subject matter expertise to troubleshoot implementation and operational issues, tailoring information, insights and arguments for different stakeholders
- Seek advice and escalate to management for assistance and or relevant support as required during critical customer situations by adhering to documented escalation procedures
- Prepares, maintains and submits activity/progress reports and time recording/management reports in accordance with Hummingbirds’ procedures
- Assist in or be responsible for the creation of knowledge management articles and perform all knowledge management tasks in accordance with defined processes, procedures and personal KPIs
- Effectively represent Hummingbird in a professional manner to the customer at all times
- Mentor delivery Consultants within specialist areas
- Willingness to work on a flexible schedule and travel where required
Financial Responsibilities
- Prepare financial cost models for pre-sales and service delivery• Prepare financial statements for a wide range of client structures and differing complexity standards
- Compile a full file of working papers for all financial statements prepared
- Ensure that financial statements prepared are completed and signed off within client, statutory or regulatory deadlines
- Attend client meetings in respect of accounting matters as required
- Review annual and periodic accounts prepared for professional services
- Prepare bill analysis at the end of each engagement
- Comply with all office financial procedures, checklists and templates
- Analyse financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations, and determine solutions to business and financial problems
People leadership and capability development
- Develop a high performing team that can build trust with the business, deliver high-quality services, and effectively navigate through a changing environment
- Supporting consultants and senior consultants within the business
- Develop a team in including developing optimal structures and clear accountabilities, maximising employee performance, providing mentoring and coaching to ensure the right people in the right roles to deliver technical services required to achieve business objectives

Qualifications
- Certified consultant or technology equivalent accredited in a specialist area
- At least 9 years of technical IT-related experience
- Minimum 7 years of technical consultancy and enterprise experience
- Business or similar degree qualification preferred
Experience
- 10+ year’s experience within the IT Industry/financial services or in business consulting
- Experience with large scale digital transformations
- 8 + years working in enterprise architecture environments
- Experience developing IT Strategies and formulating roadmaps
- 8+ year’s experience working across industry/product architecture domains
- 8+ year’s experience delivering major business solutions into production within an organisation including business value modelling, and Data Management Frameworks
Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of network solutions, operating systems, technology integration both from an infrastructure and application aspect
- Appreciation of multiple technology platforms
- Deep understanding of managed infrastructure technologies and how they can be deployed to fit customer solution requirements
- Knowledge and experience of related computer applications
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
